Homecoming

Home

Shines far out

In the horizon,

Beyond the trees,

And behind these

Light bulbs.

It streams through the wind

In locked packets of hope.

Like those mountains in

The distance,

It’s unreachable,

Unattainable.

It’s a state.

It’s moments.

It’s when I walk with you

Naked feet

Through the wild.

It’s when your smile

Rubs off on me

As we walk separately

Another mile.

And when I find myself sleeping

On the pavement

Of those far off memories,

Under this melting sun

And the blowing wind,

I realise that maybe

You are home.
